Naples - A breakthrough has been achieved in the investigation into the murder of Nicola Mirti, which occurred in June 2025 at a beach resort in Castel Volturno. The Caserta Flying Squad, in collaboration with their colleagues in Naples and the Giugliano-Villaricca Police Station, has executed a pre-trial detention order for a 16-year-old from Mugnano di Napoli. The young man is seriously suspected of complicity in murder and illegal possession of a knife.

The order, issued by the investigating judge of the Naples Juvenile Court under coordination of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, closes the circle on a bloody affair that has disrupted the summer nightlife on the Domitian coast.

The chilling dynamic: the killer and the "block"

The episode dates back to several months ago, when Nicholas Myrtle A 19-year-old man, also from Mugnano di Napoli, was fatally injured during an argument at the popular beach club. The victim, a boy his age, was stabbed twice with a 10-centimeter-long switchblade. The wounds, one to the heart and the other to the left collarbone, proved fatal.

The perpetrator of the stabbing, Salvatore Sannino, was arrested in flagrante by the Caserta Flying Squad and the Police Station of Castel Volturno, under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere.

However, from the first investigations, the shadow of an accomplice emerged.

Witness accounts and initial investigative analyses indicated that the killer had not acted alone, but had been assisted by another person who had then quickly disappeared from the beach.

The 16-year-old's key role: decisive kicks and punches

Subsequent investigations, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Naples, focused on identifying the second attacker. Investigators from the Caserta Flying Squad were able to meticulously reconstruct the entire incident, uncovering the minor's crucial role.

The 16-year-old, a longtime friend of the perpetrator of the murder, did more than simply act as lookout. It emerged that the young man actively blocked the victim, preventing her from fleeing, and also kicked and punched her before the stabber delivered the fatal blows. This violent and coordinated action constitutes complicity in the crime.

The solid evidence, the result of meticulous technical work, allowed the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office to obtain a request for precautionary measures from the GIP.

The 16-year-old was located and taken to the Nisida Juvenile Detention Center. The joint police operation confirms the commitment to shed light on all aspects of a brutal crime committed in a summer resort.
