It was a busy night in the heart of Naples' historic center, where a State Police operation resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old for illegal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, and assaulting a public official. Officers from the Decumani Police Station , traveling along Via Santa Maria di Costantinopoli, noticed a scooter carrying two people. Upon seeing the patrol car, the driver suddenly reversed, attempting to evade detection. This suspicious behavior prompted officers to pursue the vehicle: the young man, after disembarking his passenger, fled on foot through the streets of the Decumani . During his pursuit, he disposed of a loaded Walther pistol with seven rounds of ammunition, which officers recovered, before being caught and arrested.
While attempting to evade arrest, a struggle ensued, resulting in the 21-year-old being stopped and searched. He had €305 in cash and approximately five grams of hashish.
