Naples – The clashes between juvenile gangs continue, and the alleys of the historic center continue to be the scene of blind and merciless violence. State Police have arrested a 17-year-old, believed to be responsible for the attempted murder of a peer, which occurred on the night of September 15th in the San Ferdinando neighborhood.
This is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a series of clashes between baby bosses trying to assert their control over different areas of the city.
The dynamics of the shooting: a punitive expedition?
According to initial reports, the arrested young man broke into a home and, without hesitation, fired several gunshots at the victim, another minor.
The bullets hit him in the femur, forcing him to be admitted to the Vecchio Pellegrini Hospital, where he arrived with a critical condition and a guarded prognosis.
The investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Naples, was swift and decisive. The analysis of public and private video surveillance cameras was crucial, allowing the reconstruction of the attack's dynamics and the identification of the alleged perpetrator.
Strengthening the evidence were the testimonies collected and the discovery, in the home of a relative of the suspect, of a pistol of the same caliber as the one used in the shooting.
The injured man had escaped from a community
The 17-year-old's arrest occurred in a peculiar context. The victim, himself a familiar face to law enforcement, had attempted to conceal his identity by providing false information.
He had, in fact, escaped from a community where he was held following a previous precautionary measure, issued following offenses of resisting arrest and serious assault. The Juvenile Prosecutor's Office had already issued a sentence increase, which called for his transfer to a juvenile detention center. This measure was served on him while he was still hospitalized.
The clash between youth criminal groups: a spiral of violence
The incident is just the latest in a series of violent clashes involving groups of very young people, often rivals for control of neighboring neighborhoods. The ease with which these youths acquire firearms is a worrying sign and a wake-up call for law enforcement.

It's truly appalling to see young people involved in these violent situations. Society must do more to prevent these incidents from happening. We need more monitoring and support for young people.
