Naples – A night of routine checks turned into a dramatic operation for the Carabinieri of the Naples Central Company.
The soldiers, engaged in the usual anti-movida service in the alleys of the historic center and the clubs of Chiaia, were urgently diverted by the Operations Center to an apartment in the center, where yet another chapter of a family nightmare was unfolding.
It was here that a 51-year-old man, in the middle of the night, furiously attempted to break down the door of his 24-year-old daughter's house.
The terrified young woman had managed to barricade herself inside, calling for help. When the officers arrived, the situation was far from calm: the man showed no sign of surrender, even continuing to threaten the girl's life in front of their uniforms. This behavior confirmed to the Carabinieri the seriousness and recidivism of his actions.
The incident was not an isolated one. Initial investigations revealed it was the latest in a long series of stalking and domestic abuse incidents. The Carabinieri , therefore, did not hesitate to arrest the 51-year-old, charged with stalking and domestic abuse. He was subsequently transferred to prison, awaiting trial.
The numbers of the anti-movida service
Before and after this dramatic intervention, the military carried out a territorial control operation, which produced significant numbers:
165 people identified;
47 fines issued for violations of the highway code;
16 of these fines were for failure to wear a helmet;
10 vehicles seized;
4 reports for repeat offenders of illegal parking.
The arrest sheds a stark light on the phenomenon of domestic violence, which often occurs within the confines of the home, far from the spotlight of nightlife. It also demonstrates how constant law enforcement presence in the area is crucial not only to ensure compliance with the rules, but also to intervene promptly where those desperately need protection.
