A weekend of tight controls in Naples' nightlife districts. The State Police intervened between the chalets of Mergellina and Largo Sermoneta, the heart of Neapolitan nightlife, in an operation aimed at ensuring safety and combating widespread illegal activity.
Officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue identified 63 people—12 of whom were already known to law enforcement—and checked 42 vehicles. This preventive action is part of the enhanced surveillance plan implemented for areas most frequented by young people on weekend nights.
The week of checks and the fight against illegal parking attendants
At the same time, the Kites of the General Prevention Office, together with the Local Police personnel, carried out an extraordinary service throughout the week, with particular attention to the phenomenon of illegal parking attendants, a historical plague in the areas of Chiaia, Mergellina and San Ferdinando.
The toll is heavy: 185 people identified, 50 of whom had police records, and two reported; 2 vehicles were checked, 80 of which were administratively seized. Furthermore, 11 traffic violations were issued, demonstrating the monitoring that covered every aspect of traffic and urban safety.
The crackdown on nightlife
Police sources explain that the enforcement measures will continue over the coming weekends to prevent fights, alcohol abuse, and illegal behavior related to the large influx of young people into nightlife areas.
