An incredible display of "solidarity" for a friend in prison turned into an episode of youthful violence and bad behavior that required the intervention of the Carabinieri.
Naples – It was around 1:30 a.m. when the silence of the night was shattered by a deafening concert of car horns and shouts. A group of young people, riding scooters, gathered in front of the Naples Juvenile Court with a clear intent: to show their support for a young friend, detained in the nearby First Reception Center.
A dramatic gesture of defiance, just steps from the Capodimonte Carabinieri barracks, did not go unnoticed.
Officers from the nearby station intervened immediately to disperse the demonstration. Upon seeing the patrol, the group of youths fled. But one of them, in an attempt to escape, committed a reckless act that transformed the incident into a criminal offense.
The escape, the run over and the arrest
An 18-year-old man from the Spanish Quarter with no criminal record attempted to flee, hitting a police officer. The officer, struck by the scooter, managed to stop the young man, who lost control of the vehicle and fell to the ground.
He was immediately arrested for resisting arrest and assaulting a public official. The young man is now awaiting trial, while the Carabiniere was transported to the Naples Central Hospital, where he was treated and released with a five-day prognosis.
This episode once again highlights a worrying trend of violence and arrogance permeating some young people . An attack on law enforcement officers for a gesture of defiance, an escalation that reflects a total disrespect for rules and institutions.
