Naples. The dessert "Pucundria – The Miracle is in the Return" is not just a pastry masterpiece, but a manifesto of feelings and unbreakable bonds. It was created by Alessandra Bernardini, a talented 28-year-old pastry chef who works at DavPastryLab in Albano Sant'Alessandro, in the province of Bergamo.

His dessert triumphed in the eighth edition of the contest “San Gennà…Un Dolce per San Gennaro ” by Mulino Caputo, an initiative that celebrates the patron saint of Naples through sweetness.

"Pucundria," a Neapolitan term that evokes saudade, that mix of nostalgia and melancholy typical of those who live away from home, is the feeling that guided Alessandra. "It's a dessert dedicated to all the young people who, like me, have left home and cherish that sense of belonging," she explained, visibly moved. "I hope to return home soon and open my own pastry shop." A dream that, thanks to this success, could soon become a reality.

This dessert, a signature single-serving treat, combines Milanese and Neapolitan culture. Its composition is a symphony of flavors: a chocolate layer representing the miter of San Gennaro, on which the rose window of Milan's Cathedral is drawn. Inside, a black cherry financier, a lemon and vanilla diplomatica, lemon and orange blossom jam, almond brittle, and black cherry coulis.

Alessandra Bernardini's creativity and flair were recognized by a panel of distinguished judges, including master pastry chefs Sal De Riso and Sabatino Sirica, chef Gennaro Esposito, and Antimo Caputo, CEO of Mulino Caputo.

In addition to the prestige of the victory, the pastry chef took home a cash prize of one thousand euros, one thousand kilograms of Mulino Caputo flour, and a ceramic work by the artist Mate, donated by Santorè.

The event, held on the splendid panoramic terrace of the Renaissance Naples Hotel Mediterraneo, was a success for Italian pastry making. As Antimo Caputo emphasized, the contest's goal is to fill a void: the lack of a dessert dedicated to the saint. "Young people are very creative, they love to challenge themselves, and we always enthusiastically support them," stated the CEO.

Next year, the challenge becomes even more exciting: all the winners of previous editions will compete to decree the "Prodigious Dessert" par excellence, the one that will represent San Gennaro in Neapolitan and national pastry making.
