Naples – An evening of music that could have turned tragic. In the midst of the crowd gathered in Piazza Plebiscito for a concert, Carabinieri officers from the Naples Central unit arrested a 15-year-old boy.
During the search, a switchblade was found in the young man's pockets.
For the minor, who was in the company of some peers, the fun ended abruptly: he was reported and returned to his parents.
Movida under observation
The incident occurred as part of a broader surveillance operation that the Carabinieri carried out throughout the weekend in the streets of the historic center, Piazza Bellini, the Decumani, and the Chiaia bar area.
A control device that, once again, has put the spotlight on Neapolitan nightlife, increasingly at the center of incidents linked to drugs, alcohol, and widespread lawlessness.
The numbers of the checks
During the operation, the Carabinieri identified 99 people and inspected 58 vehicles, eight of which were seized. Seven young people found in possession of small quantities of narcotics were also reported to the Prefecture.
It's not just drugs and knives: the battle against illegal parking attendants continues , with five people reported for repeat offenders in the last two years.
Finally, the Carabinieri officers arrested two people who had escaped from restraining orders and reported a man caught driving a scooter without ever having obtained a license.
The knife in the pocket of a fifteen-year-old and the many incidents recorded in the space of a few hours paint a picture of a city centre constantly under pressure, where police controls remain an indispensable safeguard to guarantee safety and legality during Neapolitan nights.
