Pomigliano – A Camorra ambush that turned into a violent exchange between rival clans is at the center of an investigation by the Naples Prosecutor's Office, which has led to the arrest of three people. Diego Ferraro, 21, Daniele Errico, 19, and Renato Cerracchio, 23, were arrested on charges of attempted murder and possession and carrying of a firearm, crimes aggravated by the intent to facilitate Camorra activities.
The Naples investigating judge has issued precautionary prison measures, closing the loop on a bloody episode that dates back to April 12 of last year in Pomigliano d'Arco, the scene of a fierce battle for control of the territory between the Ferretti and Cipolletta clans.
The ambush and the investment: a night of fire
According to the reconstruction by investigators from the Carabinieri of Castello di Cisterna, a planned ambush took place on the night of April 12, 2024. Daniele Errico and Renato Cerracchio, aboard a Honda SH, were tasked with eliminating Diego Ferraro, who was in a car with another person.
The gunshots fired by the two killers, however, missed their mark. Ferraro, who escaped the attack, reacted swiftly: he put his Audi Q2 into gear and hit the scooter carrying Errico and Cerracchio, injuring them.
Immediately afterward, Ferraro went to the Carabinieri station, reporting an alleged attempted robbery against him, which led to the car being hit. This version didn't convince investigators, who were suspicious of the bullet holes in the car's bodywork and some inconsistencies in his story.
The investigations: CCTV cameras and the role of the informer
Thanks to meticulous investigative work, the Carabinieri debunked the robbery theory. The surveillance footage, which captured the ambush and the car crash, proved crucial, disproving Ferraro's version.
The three suspects were also nailed by the contribution of a collaborator of justice, Salvatore Ferretti, a member of the clan of the same name , who provided crucial details on the ongoing feud between the Ferrettis and the Cipollettas for the control of the illicit activities in Pomigliano d'Arco.
The feud and the criminal context
The incident is part of a cycle of criminal tension that has pitted the two clans against each other for years for territorial supremacy. The struggle for control of drug dealing, extortion, and other illicit activities has made Pomigliano d'Arco a highly criminal area, with ambushes and retaliations occurring relentlessly.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the three suspects' actions aimed to consolidate the power of one of the two groups, in an escalation of violence that risked resulting in murder.
Yesterday, the Naples investigating judge signed the precautionary custody order for Ferraro, Errico, and Cerracchio, acknowledging the seriousness of their crimes and the concrete danger to public safety.
The charges, aggravated by the Camorra context, underscore the Prosecutor's Office's determination to crack down hard on the criminal dynamics that plague the region. Investigators are continuing their investigations to clarify the possible involvement of other individuals and to delve deeper into the three men's role in organizing the illegal activities.
Meanwhile, the arrest of the protagonists of this affair represents a significant blow to organised crime in Pomigliano , but the feud between the clans seems far from over.
