Reggio Calabria. Reggio Calabria is preparing to host the fourth edition of "Scirubetta – The Artisanal Gelato Village," the international event organized by Conpait that transforms the heart of the city into a celebration of artisanal gelato. Following the extraordinary success of 2024, with over 100.000 attendees, the 2025 edition promises to exceed all expectations.

"Scirubetta 2025" will take place on the Reggio Calabria waterfront from September 13 to 16, 2025, with a sprawling village hosting workshops, tastings, talks, and performances. The event is organized in collaboration with the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, and this year it benefits from the prestigious partnerships of Arsac and Calabria Straordinaria, demonstrating their joint commitment to promoting the region's excellent food and tourism products.

The presentation was attended by the national president of Conpait, Angelo Musolino, along with a delegation of members of the Confederation of Italian Pastry Chefs and the metropolitan mayor of Reggio Calabria, Giuseppe Falcomatà.

Scirubetta's international reach is confirmed by the participation of 34 master gelato makers and delegations from Japan, the USA, Belgium, Tunisia, Hungary, Poland, and France. This melting pot of flavors, techniques, and traditions will make Reggio Calabria the global hub of artisanal gelato. Internationally renowned speakers, distinguished guests, and industry journalists are expected to contribute to making Scirubetta not only a celebration of flavor, but also an opportunity for education, discussion, and innovation. Among the most anticipated guests is the national president of Confartigianato, underscoring the strategic importance of artisanal food for the Italian economy. The involvement of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, which exhibits the Riace Bronzes, is also a keynote address, having been chosen as the location for further events showcasing the history of gelato.

"Scirubetta 2025" will be a multisensory experience, open to families, professionals, and the curious. It's an opportunity to discover gelato as a cultural product, a symbol of creativity and sustainability, and to experience Reggio Calabria in a new, welcoming, and vibrant way.

Conpait's national president, Angelo Musolino, along with the entire Conpait team, has been working for months to ensure every organizational detail is taken care of. "Expectations are high," Musolino said, "and the guests, as well as national broadcasters and several editors of major magazines, have already scheduled recordings, crews, and arrivals in the city. Once again, Reggio Calabria is preparing to be the world capital of ice cream”.

Updates on the program and performers will be available on the official channels. Further details can be found on the website: https://www.scirubettafestival.it/

Musolino (Conpait): With Scirubetta, Reggio Calabria becomes the ice cream capital.

From 13th to 16th September 34 masters from all over the world

"There will be 34 gelato makers present on the waterfront of Reggio Calabria, a city we call the world capital of gelato. These masters come from Europe, Asia, Africa, and America, and they will be ready to prepare their local products, some with a tribute to the city hosting the event. Many of them will include Reggio Calabria bergamot in their gelato for Scirubetta 2025. Furthermore, this year, in addition to the gelato makers, we will have 12 chefs from the Italian Chefs' Federation who will prepare a dish paired with gelato, all enjoyed with a glass of wine." This was stated by Conpait national president Angelo Musolino, in introducing the 2025 edition of 'Scirubetta, the artisanal gelato festival', promoted and organized by the Confederation with the support of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria. Reggio Calabria, which will take place from 13 to 16 September on the Reggio Calabria seafront.

"This is a way to build synergy with the local area," Musolino added, "but also with those visiting from outside. We also want to offer the opportunity to get to know the city and promote our excellence. I thank the Metropolitan City for everything it has done for us and for what it will do, especially because on September 29th, we are planning to present the Metropolitan Area's Typical Desserts Menu. This event will also involve hotel and B&B tourism operators, with whom we will decide which local dessert will be featured. In the meantime, from September 13th to 16th, we will be focusing entirely on Scirubetta's artisanal gelato. We look forward to seeing you."
