Caserta – Finance police from the Caserta Provincial Command have sealed off a completely illegal shoe factory , discovered inside a garage in Lusciano.
The operation, part of a broader plan by the Caserta Prefecture to combat environmental crimes in the so-called "Land of Fires," uncovered a clandestine operation that damaged the environment, evaded taxes, and exploited illegal workers.
An unscrupulous entrepreneur
The workshop, approximately 200 square meters, was managed by an entrepreneur who, in addition to never having declared his business to the tax authorities, demonstrated a complete lack of respect for safety and environmental regulations.
Finance police determined that the man did not have the necessary permits to emit toxic fumes generated by leather processing, nor to dispose of hazardous waste, such as hide scraps. Illegal production, in fact, risked contaminating the air and soil, endangering the health of residents.
Undeclared work and undue state aid
In addition to environmental and tax violations, the financial police discovered that the entrepreneur was employing two illegal workers. His situation is even more serious because, despite his illegal activity, he was receiving unemployment benefits (NASPI). He was therefore reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of North Naples for the misappropriation of public funds, environmental crimes, and the employment of illegal labor.
The operation led to the seizure of the entire workshop, machinery, hundreds of shoes ready for sale, and approximately 150 kg of leather scraps. The entrepreneur's situation has also been reported to labor inspectors and the National Institute of Social Security (INPS) for recovery of the unduly received sums. The Guardia di Finanza (Fiamme Gialle) will continue its operations to crack down on tax evasion and environmental crimes, which continue to threaten the health and economy of the area.
