Naples – A legal blow has arrived for Angelo Napolitano, a well-known social media personality and manager of Napolitano Store in Casalnuovo, a company specializing in the sale of household appliances and telephones.
The entrepreneur, who has become one of the most important figures in the last two years tiktokers most followed and discussed in Campania, has ended up at the centre of an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nola. In the last few hours, the military of the Economic-Financial Police Unit of the Financial Police ofThe Napoli family executed a precautionary seizure of movable and immovable assets worth a total of €5,7 million, ordered by the Nola investigating judge.
The frozen assets also include an apartment in the Gianturco district and a 16,5-meter yacht, both formally registered to third parties.
The charge: VAT fraud and double accounting
According to investigators, the company allegedly set up a complex tax fraud scheme, based on issuing invoices for non-existent transactions and using "shell" companies with no real operations.
This way, the company could sell smartphones and other products at significantly lower prices than market prices, with discounts of up to 400 euros for some latest-generation models.
The "black" transactions were only possible with cash payments, preferably in 100-euro bills. The customer was given a pseudo-receipt, with no fiscal value but containing the IMEI of the purchased phone. This double accounting allowed the company to justify the removal of products from the warehouse and simultaneously guarantee replacements.
A mechanism that would have allowed the company to grow abnormally: from 2017 to 2023, declared turnover skyrocketed from 2,2 to over 20 million euros.
The rise of social media and the controversies
Alongside his entrepreneurial activity, Angelo Napolitano has built a media persona on TikTok, becoming known for his ironic videos and infectious laughter. In recent weeks, he sparked controversy with his viral appearance at Palazzo Santa Lucia, the seat of the Campania Regional Council, along with Rita De Crescenzo and to regional councilor De Fenza.
On that occasion, the three had sung Mameli's anthem, waving the Italian flag and announcing unlikely political ambitions.
Other provocations abounded: attacks on Neapolitan bars and pizzerias, accusing them of charging "excessive" prices, and the announcement of plans to open low-cost, popular venues. Even controversies arose with MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli and journalist Pino Grazioli, targets of some of his videos.
The fall
What seemed like the rise of an unconventional "social" entrepreneur has been shattered by today's ruling. The investigation, the Prosecutor's Office explains, remains open and aims to fully uncover a web of transactions that allegedly allowed the company to systematically evade tax obligations.
For Angelo Napolitano, followed by hundreds of thousands of followers, this is the darkest moment: from the height of his online popularity to the weight of a multi-million dollar kidnapping and accusations that threaten to permanently overwhelm his public image.

It's strange how someone who seems successful can find themselves in such a complicated situation. VAT fraud is a serious crime, and the fact that he used invoices for non-existent transactions is very serious. I hope the truth comes out.
