Sorrento: Cannabis plantation discovered, 40-year-old arrested

Sorrento – The State Police have dealt a severe blow to drug trafficking on the Sorrento peninsula. As part of the extraordinary operations ordered by the Naples Police Headquarters, officers from the Sorrento Police Station discovered a plantation of marijuana and arrested a 40-year-old local man, already known to the police for specific precedents.

The operation began on Friday, when officers conducted a check on a farm. To their surprise, they found a veritable illegal grow, with the 40-year-old intently tending the plants. Subsequent investigations revealed the existence of 32 marijuana plants.

Not just plants: a large quantity of drugs found

The discoveries didn't stop at the camp. Suspecting more illicit material, the officers extended their search to a nearby warehouse. Inside, the discovery confirmed their suspicions. A bag contained approximately 800 grams of dried marijuana, ready for sale, as well as a 70-gram block of hashish.

The arrest of the 40-year-old is a strong sign of law enforcement's ongoing commitment to combating drug production and trafficking, even in typically quiet areas like the tourist area of ​​Sorrento. The man was arrested and faces charges of illegal possession of narcotics.
