Naples – A robbery, foiled by prompt police intervention, occurred Thursday afternoon at Naples Central Station . A 27-year-old man, already known to law enforcement, was stopped and arrested by railway officers after a brief chase and a struggle.
It all happened during the "Safe Stations" checkpoint, when officers noticed the 27-year-old moving suspiciously through the crowd. The man approached a traveler who was using his smartphone and, taking advantage of a moment of distraction, snatched it from his hand, causing it to fall to the ground. Immediately afterward, he tried to flee.
State Police officers gave chase and, despite the criminal's resistance, managed to stop him and recover the phone. The victim, a young commuter, was able to get his smartphone back. The man was arrested and faces charges of robbery.
