New technologies to combat illegal dumping and arson in the Land of Fires. This is the approach outlined by Fabio Ciciliano, government commissioner for suburban redevelopment, at the conclusion of the technical meeting held today in Caivano.
The summit focused on the need to strengthen video surveillance in the most affected areas of the provinces of Naples and Caserta. "We will take as a reference," Ciciliano explained, "the experience of the Calabria Region, which over the years has developed a system based on drones and artificial intelligence , now considered a best practice at the European level."
The goal is twofold: to strengthen law enforcement through advanced technological tools and to transform the management of the phenomenon from an emergency to a structural one. " Drones and cameras," he added, "will allow the various police forces to work synergistically and more effectively. But health monitoring is also essential, because simply removing abandoned piles of waste isn't enough: we must prevent them from being created again."
The Commissioner emphasized the need for an integrated approach involving local authorities and citizens: "We need a civilized system for waste disposal and landfill. Only in this way will it be possible to concretely reduce the problem and restore safety and dignity to the Land of Fires."
