Pozzuoli – The Campi Flegrei area has been hit by an intense seismic swarm in the last few hours, culminating in a magnitude 4.0 shock recorded at 4:55 this morning, preceded by a series of smaller events.
Following these phenomena, the Ente Autonomo Volturno ( EAV ), operator of the Cumana and Circumflegrea railway lines, announced the suspension of service to allow for checks on the railway infrastructure.
To reduce disruption, a replacement bus service, operated by D'Agostino, has been set up on the Montesanto-Torregaveta and Montesanto-Licola routes, in both directions.

The Prefecture of Naples, under the leadership of Prefect Michele di Bari, has convened the Relief Coordination Center (CCS) to monitor the situation in real time. According to the Vesuvius Observatory , the seismic swarm began yesterday afternoon, with the most significant shock occurring this morning.
"All relevant institutions are currently investigating the situation to determine any potential issues," the prefecture announced, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring the safety of the population.
Pozzuoli Mayor Gigi Manzoni reassured residents, stating that there have been no reports of damage to people or property at this time. "Since last night, our city has been affected by intense seismic activity ," Manzoni explained in a statement.
I have ordered the immediate deployment of Municipal Police and Civil Protection patrols to monitor the area. The situation is under control, but we are working to ensure safety without compromising citizens' right to mobility.
The mayor emphasized the need to find a solution to avoid the total suspension of public transport following every seismic event, emphasizing the ongoing dialogue with EAV.
“We cannot allow service to be completely interrupted with every tremor,” Manzoni declared, promising constant updates and transparency in managing the emergency.
