Naples – Campania is preparing for a day of bad weather: the regional Civil Protection has issued a yellow-level weather alert for rain and thunderstorms , valid tomorrow, September 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 23:59 p.m., across much of the region.

Zones 4 (Alta Irpinia and Sannio) and 7 (Tanagro) are excluded from the alert, while the rest of the region will face sudden, potentially intense rainfall, accompanied by hail, lightning, and strong gusts of wind.

According to the Functional Centre's assessments, weather conditions will be characterised by rapid evolution and a certain forecast uncertainty, factors which make the phenomena particularly insidious.

The rains, which could reach significant intensity, risk causing hydrogeological problems, including flooding, rising river levels, water runoff on roads, rockfall, and landslides.

Also of concern is the potential damage to roofs, exposed structures, and public greenery due to gusts of wind, lightning, and hail, as well as the stresses of wave motion along the coast.

The Civil Protection Agency has urged municipalities to implement all necessary measures to prevent and mitigate risks, activating Municipal Operations Centers (COCs) and following local civil protection plans. Recommendations include careful monitoring of public green spaces and vulnerable structures, as well as constant attention to communications from the Regional Operations Room.

The alert comes amid an already critical situation for the region, following days of seismic instability in the Campi Flegrei, which have put pressure on institutions and the population. Authorities emphasize the importance of a coordinated response to ensure public safety, urging residents to exercise maximum vigilance and follow official updates.

Campania is therefore preparing for a Monday of alert, in the hope that the precautions adopted will reduce the inconveniences and dangers linked to bad weather to a minimum.
