A night marked by violence, with four people injured by stab wounds between Sunday and Monday. This is the toll of the last weekend of August in Naples , when the summer nightlife gave way to scenes of fear and bloodshed.
The most serious case occurred in Piazza del Gesù, the heart of the city's nightlife. The victim was a sixteen-year-old Neapolitan student with no criminal record and from a respectable family, who found himself surrounded by a small group of his peers.
It all started with a trivial pretext: a cigarette asked for and refused. The refusal triggered the attack. One of the gang members left for a few minutes, likely to retrieve a knife from a scooter parked nearby, and then returned with two friends.
16-year-old stabbed three times for denying cigarette
The sixteen-year-old was shot three times, in the abdomen and legs. He was rushed to the emergency room at Pellegrini Hospital, where he remains under observation: his life is not in danger, but the prognosis is not yet known.
According to the police reconstruction , it was the second round of an argument that had erupted shortly before between two groups of young people who did not know each other. The three attackers acted with their faces uncovered and are now being sought by officers from the Dante police station, who are reviewing video surveillance footage and gathering witness statements.
17-year-old injured in the Berlingieri district
The bloody night didn't stop in the historic center. Around 5 a.m., in Secondigliano, another minor was injured: a 17-year-old from the Berlingieri neighborhood, stabbed in the left leg after a minor argument escalated into a brawl with two boys his age. Taken to the CTO by a family member, he was released with a ten-day prognosis.
Rounding out the report is a different but equally violent incident: two Dominican women, both residents of Naples and employed as caregivers, stabbed each other during a heated argument. Again, the injuries were minor and the women were treated at Pellegrini Hospital. The Montecalvario Police Department is investigating the case.
Four stabbings in just a few hours, in both the city center and the suburbs, bring to light the issue of youth violence and the ease with which arguments, over trivial matters, can escalate into bloodshed.

The article talks about a brutal night in Naples, but it's unclear why things escalated this way. People should think before they act and not use knives for something as trivial as a cigarette.
