Pavia – What was supposed to be the happiest day of his life turned into a tragedy that shocked his family and friends. Antimo Squillace, 49 , a worker of Neapolitan origin living in Bornasco, died yesterday during his wedding to his partner Federica Vespo, 31.
The couple had been married a few hours earlier in a civil ceremony. The ceremony, officiated by city councilor Amilcare Nardi representing the administration, was followed by the joy of the family and the anticipation of the celebrations at the farmhouse in Montebello della Battaglia, in the Oltrepò Pavese area.
The sudden illness
The groom had gone off to change his clothes for dinner and dancing with his guests. At that moment, he suffered a sudden heart attack. Those present immediately raised the alarm: 118 paramedics arrived on the scene and performed lengthy resuscitation attempts.
The man was then urgently transferred to the Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, but every attempt was in vain: the doctors could do nothing but pronounce him dead.
The shock of relatives and friends
The tragedy left friends and family stunned, witnessing a day that turned into mourning in just a few hours. The couple had been living together for some time and had decided to crown their bond with marriage . A few hours before the ceremony, Antimo had posted a photo of the wedding rings on Facebook, a sign of the joy and enthusiasm with which he awaited that moment.
According to initial reports, Squillace did not suffer from any particular heart conditions. For this reason, his sudden death struck the community and guests even more harshly, forcing them to transition in a matter of hours from the euphoria of celebration to the silence of grief.
The memory on social media
On social media, friends and acquaintances expressed their disbelief and sympathy for the young bride, who was widowed on her wedding day. The story of Antimo and Federica, which should have opened a new chapter in their lives, remains marked by a tragedy that has moved the entire province of Pavia.

It's truly sad that such a beautiful celebration has turned tragic. I can't imagine the grief of the bride and family at this time. I hope they can find comfort in Antimo's happy memories.
