Naples – A scene of unprecedented domestic violence shattered the afternoon on Via Mariano Semmola, in the heart of the Rione Alto district, just steps from the Policlinico Hospital. An elderly woman's desperate cry, "Help, help me!", alerted neighbors, who witnessed a horror that apparently had precedents within the home.
Moments after the alarm was raised, the attacker materialized on the scene: the 86-year-old mother was forcefully dragged by the arms out of the front door. Both men's clothes were visibly stained with blood, coming from the victim's face, which was reduced to a mask contorted by pain and fear.
The intervention of the Carabinieri and the escape
The immediate reaction of residents—some shouting, some rushing to the scene, some calling 911—put an end to the attack. When the Carabinieri from the Capodimonte station promptly arrived, the woman was lying on the ground, awaiting emergency services, who had already been alerted. Passersby quickly pointed out the man's direction of escape.

According to initial investigations, the argument erupted inside the home. The man initially attempted to cover up the attack by claiming his mother had simply fallen, but then, in an attempt to silence her and hide the incident, he violently dragged her first into the elevator and then out of the building through a back door.
Tracked down and taken to Poggioreale
The sight of the Carabinieri's flashing lights at the end of the street triggered the 44-year-old to flee, chased for a few meters by some exasperated residents.
The military search lasted very little. The man was quickly located and arrested, still wearing his blood-stained clothes.
Taken to the police station for formal procedures, the 44-year-old is now incarcerated in Poggioreale prison. He faces very serious charges of domestic abuse and aggravated assault, crimes that highlight the systematic violence to which his elderly mother was allegedly subjected. The timely intervention of neighbors and law enforcement put an end to a domestic nightmare.
