Tragedy in the night a Napoli, in the Chiaia district, where a 35-year-old man died while being transported to the hospital after being hit with a taser by the Carabinieri who intervened to quell a family argument.
According to an initial reconstruction, the Carabinieri had been alerted by 112 following a report of a fight in a home in the neighborhood. Inside the house, in addition to the 35-year-old man—an Italian citizen of North African origin—there were also a woman and a minor.
When the Carabinieri knocked on the door, the man reportedly reacted with strong agitation, resisting the officers' attempts to calm him down.

Shortly afterward, with the arrival of reinforcements and emergency personnel, the man was loaded into an ambulance to be taken to the hospital. During the journey, however, his condition worsened, and the 35-year-old died before reaching the emergency room.
An investigation has been opened into the case to determine the cause of death and verify the appropriateness of the intervention. The body has been seized and will undergo an autopsy in the coming hours, as ordered by the judicial authorities.
The investigators are collecting testimonies from those present and footage from the bodycams supplied to the military, which could clarify the dynamics of the events and the conditions in which the taser was used.
