Police conducted extraordinary checks in the city center and western neighborhoods, seizing cocaine, marijuana, and the "date rape drug."
NAPLES – It was a busy day for the State Police, engaged in a series of extraordinary drug trafficking checks in various locations across the city. Five people, all with criminal records, were arrested within twenty-four hours.
Among them were a 40-year-old woman from Isernia, a 40-year-old man from Guinea, and three Neapolitans aged 49, 26, and 34.
The first intervention took place in the afternoon in Piazza San Francesco di Paola, where officers from the General Prevention Office noticed a rapid exchange of money and a hand passing a small package.

The latest arrest took place on Via Diocleziano, in the Fuorigrotta neighborhood. Officers from the San Paolo Police Station checked a suspicious car: the driver, a 34-year-old Neapolitan, was hiding nine grams of marijuana and a small bag containing the so-called "date rape drug," a psychotropic substance also used to alter the state of consciousness of victims of sexual crimes.
All five were arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Police emphasize that extraordinary checks will continue in the coming days, with particular attention to nightlife areas and the historic center.
