AVELLINO – A violent explosion at dawn shattered the silence of Scampitella, a small town in Alta Irpinia. The thieves targeted the Postamat of the post office in Via Piave, using the so-called “marmotta”, the rudimentary homemade device often used to break into automatic teller machines.
The explosion startled the residents and caused extensive damage to the entire structure, but the heist proved a flop: the criminals failed to get their hands on the money.

The article describes a very serious and worrying incident, but it seems strange to me that the thieves didn't manage to get the money. Let's hope the investigation yields some positive results soon.
