Casalnuovo – It had become a veritable production center for false documents, hidden within the walls of a home in Casalnuovo.
Here, a 40-year-old local man, already known to law enforcement, allegedly manufactured and operated a system for counterfeiting identity cards, health cards, and credit cards, serving not only local criminals but also illegal immigrants seeking a "clean" identity to travel across the country.
The man was arrested by the State Police on charges of possession and fabrication of false identification documents and receiving stolen goods.
The discovery: identity cards, health cards and credit cards at home
During a targeted investigative operation, officers from the Naples Flying Squad raided the 40-year-old's home and found a veritable arsenal of materials useful for counterfeiting: identity cards without passport photos, others with the man's likeness but different personal details, counterfeit health cards, numerous credit and debit cards in the names of third parties, two laptops, two smartphones, a POS terminal, and passport-sized photos of various individuals.
Everything was well hidden in a bedside table drawer, a sign of organised and continuous activity.
A widespread phenomenon: the "counterfeit workshops" in Naples and its province
The Casalnuovo operation adds to a series of similar interventions conducted in recent weeks between Naples and the province by Police, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza, which led to the discovery of clandestine laboratories capable of producing perfectly counterfeit documents: driving licenses, residence permits, identity cards and health cards used for bank fraud, tax evasion and illicit trafficking.
In many cases, according to investigators, these power plants false They work on commission, providing fictitious identities to irregular migrants and individuals linked to criminal networks.

A business that moves money and security
Investigators hypothesize that the Casalnuovo "headquarters" was part of a larger network, linked to other clandestine structures operating between Ponticelli, Casoria, and the northern area of Naples, specialized in producing documents useful for obtaining loans, online purchases, or telephone contracts.
Behind an apparent artisanal activity lies a multi-million dollar business, which undermines public safety and encourages the infiltration of unverified individuals into economic and social circles.
The alarm of the police
Authorities emphasize that document counterfeiting has become a transnational business, managed by groups operating between Campania, Lazio, and North Africa, with branches as far away as Eastern Europe.
A phenomenon that not only supports economic crime, but also poses a risk to internal security, especially when linked to untraceable migration flows and money laundering operations.
The 40-year-old man from Casalnuovo was taken to the police station and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities. Investigators from the Flying Squad and the Naples North Prosecutor's Office are now analyzing the seized material, particularly the computer devices, to trace the network of clients and accomplices.
It cannot be ruled out that the man acted as a “technical supplier” for more structured organizations, or that he managed a logistics base for the large-scale production of fictitious identities.
