Caserta – They inherited a protected historic building but failed to notify the Superintendency, as required by law. Four people, heirs of a property of historical and architectural interest located in the municipality of Santa Maria a Vico, have been reported at large to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor's Office for violating cultural heritage regulations.
The investigation was conducted by the Carabinieri of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit (TPC) of Naples, in collaboration with staff from the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Caserta and Benevento.
The investigations revealed that the four, as heirs by inheritance, had failed to notify the building's ownership transfer within the required timeframe, which had occurred free of charge following inheritance.

According to investigators' findings, the property is located in an area directly protected by the Cultural Heritage and Landscape Code. The law requires owners or those entitled to promptly notify the Superintendency of any change of ownership, including inheritance, to ensure the traceability of the protected assets and allow the competent authorities to exercise the necessary oversight and protection.
Failure to notify constitutes a violation that may have both administrative and criminal implications, as it compromises the monitoring of cultural heritage assets and their proper conservation.
The judicial authorities of Santa Maria Capua Vetere have been informed by the Carabinieri of the Naples TPC Unit, who are continuing their investigations to determine any further responsibilities or omissions in the management of the inherited property.
