The assault
According to what was reconstructed by policeof the Marcianise Company, coordinated by the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Prosecutor's Office, the robbers arrived in the city in a car with stolen license plates. They wore silicone masks to alter their facial features and were carrying weapons: a pistol and a sawed-off shotgun.
The two jewelers – a man and a woman – had just left the shop when they were approached by the bandits.

The investigations
Crucial to reconstructing the events and identifying those responsible were the victims' testimonies and, above all, the analysis of images recorded by video surveillance cameras installed in the area. The first person to be identified was the gang's lookout; from there, investigators reconstructed the network of accomplices, leading to the five arrests made in recent hours.
The previous attempt
The suspects are also accused of an attempted robbery dating back to May 2024, when—using the same modus operandi—they allegedly attempted to target the manager of a car rental company in Cardito, in the province of Naples. On that occasion, the robbery failed, but it helped investigators further develop the group's criminal profile.
