A real illegal landfill in the heart of the "Land of fires”. This is what the Carabinieri of the Territorial Department of Mondragone during a targeted check in Lake Avenue, on the outskirts of the city. On an area of approximately 350 square meters, the military found piles of special and hazardous waste, abandoned without any precautions a few meters from the road.
The seized materials include: asbestos cement sheets (eternit), burned residues of fiberglass and plastic, as well as building demolition waste, all potentially harmful to health and the environment.

After having carried out the surveys and documented the extension of the site, the military have the entire area was seized and have ordered its judicial custody to the mayor of Mondragone, who will now have to activate the reclamation procedures in collaboration with ASL and ARPAC.
At the same time, investigations are underway to trace the responsible for the illegal dumping, also through the analysis of images from any security cameras installed nearby. The Judicial Authority of Santa Maria Capua Vetere has been informed of the operation, which is part of a broader plan of fight against fires and waste abandonment set up by the Carabinieri in the area.
