Naples – He was caught red-handed while selling a dose of hashish in exchange for money. State Police officers from the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station arrested a 27-year-old Neapolitan man yesterday evening on charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics.

The operation took place during a territorial control operation to combat retail drug dealing along Via Arenaccia, one of the neighborhood's busiest thoroughfares, often the scene of petty crime.

According to the reconstruction, the police officers, while on motorcycle patrol, noticed a young man on a scooter approaching a man standing on the sidewalk.

The rapid and suspicious exchange did not escape the attention of the officers: in exchange for some banknotes, the 27-year-old allegedly handed over a small package.

The officers intervened immediately, blocking both subjects.
A subsequent personal search revealed nine sticks of hashish, weighing approximately 12 grams, on the suspected dealer's person, as well as €30 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
The buyer, however, was found in possession of the dose he had just purchased and was therefore administratively fined for possession of narcotics for personal use.

The 27-year-old was then arrested and taken to the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station for the necessary formalities.

The operation is part of a broader control strategy implemented by the Naples Police Headquarters in the areas most exposed to drug trafficking, particularly between Piazza Nazionale, Via Arenaccia, and the Vasto district, where the presence of small-time drug dealing and quick street deals remains a major problem.

This is increasingly common in our neighborhood: drug dealing is a serious problem, and the police are right to intervene. I hope this can help reduce petty crime in the area.
