Naples – A routine traffic check turned into an investigation into the use of false documents. A non-EU rider, working for a well-known home delivery platform, was reported by the Naples Local Police after being caught driving with a forged license, despite a previous driving license revocation order.

The incident occurred during a patrol conducted by motorcycle officers from the Territorial Intervention Group. Suspicion arose when officers stopped a motorcycle with Polish license plates, immediately noticing the driver's nervousness when asked for his documents.

The discovery of the fake driving license

At first glance, the driver's license the man showed seemed legitimate. But a detail about the wording "Repubblica Italiana" printed on the front of the document aroused the officers' suspicions.

To dispel any doubts, the Doculus Lumus was used, a technical tool provided to the department, capable of precisely verifying the authenticity of documents.

The analysis confirmed the suspicions: the license was fake.

The document lacked the security features required by the official specimen, there were anomalies in the printing and, above all, no reaction to ultraviolet rays, a typical characteristic of fakes.

The rider was charged with using a forged document and aiding and abetting the production of false documents, while further investigations revealed that his license had already been revoked by a provision issued and notified by the Prefecture of Naples.

In addition to the criminal complaint, the man was fined for driving with a revoked license, and his motorcycle was placed under administrative seizure for three months.

A growing phenomenon

According to sources within the Local Police, in recent months there has been an increase in cases of foreign riders and drivers being found driving with counterfeit or irregular documents, often obtained through parallel online channels or counterfeiting networks.

The checks, explained the Via De Giaxa command, will continue in the coming days with targeted checks in the home delivery sector, where time pressures are pushing many to operate even without the legal requirements.
