Naples – Scam alert has been raised in the sports nutrition sector. The National Federation of Biologists' Associations (FNOb), through its president Vincenzo D'Anna, has denounced a massive, misleading advertising campaign promising to award non-existent "national diplomas" and "sports coaching cards" to those who enroll in paid courses.

The appeal calls for maximum attention. "A diploma that, in reality, doesn't exist," thunders President D'Anna, emphasizing that only qualified individuals with a legally recognized qualification can practice nutrition and related professions.

The law is clear: healthy nutrition

The FNOb reiterates a fundamental principle, often ignored or exploited by these announcements: nutrition is a health matter. This means that the expertise to develop nutritional plans or provide consultations, especially in the sports field, is reserved exclusively for qualified professionals registered with the appropriate professional registers.

The figures authorised to carry out nutritional consultancy activities are only biologists and doctors, as established by historical regulations (Law 396/1967, Legislative Decree.

The "Sports Reform" does not empower anyone

The deception is often based on the improper use of legislative references. The FNOb categorically denies that Legislative Decree 36/2021 and subsequent amendments, known as the "Sports Reform," introduce any new role or qualification in the field of nutrition.

"Any use, however improper, of legislative references for commercial purposes constitutes a serious violation of transparency and the protection of public health," the Order's statement reads. Therefore, there is no official recognition for the promised qualifications.

To protect both regular professionals and citizens who risk relying on unqualified professionals, the Federation has already announced that it will file a complaint with regulatory bodies and authorities. The goal is twofold: to protect the dignity of nutrition professionals and safeguard the health of athletes and members of sports federations.

It's truly incredible how there are people who try to scam people with promises of diplomas and certifications that don't exist. Nutrition is a serious matter and should be handled by true professionals, not by amateurs.
