CASERTA – A severe blow to the Zagaria clan's assets. The State Police seized assets worth approximately one million euros from Massimo Di Caterino, former regent of the Zagaria faction of the Casalesi clan, following the arrest of Michele Zagaria in 2011. The measure, issued by the Prevention Measures section of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere on the proposal of the police commissioner of Caserta, involved properties, cars and bank accounts registered to Di Caterino and his family members.
Investigators from the Anti-Crime Division and the Central Anti-Crime Service have reconstructed the former boss's assets, highlighting an enormous disproportion between the assets he owned and his declared income.

At the time of the arrest, notes, a 7,65 caliber pistol, and a hidden trapdoor in the shower leading to a secret hideout were found. During the seizure operations, which took place in San Cipriano and Casal di Principe, the police discovered another secret room in a two-story house equipped with video surveillance: a bunker ready to house a fugitive.

It's incredible how the police manage to uncover all these hidden assets. But I wonder if the seizure really makes a difference in stopping the mafia. The clans continue to exist despite these interventions.
