Afragola – State Police are carrying out tight patrols in the Salicelle district, a neighborhood considered for years one of the most sensitive areas in the Neapolitan hinterland for drug trafficking and consumption.
During an extraordinary territorial control operation, officers from the Afragola Police Station arrested a 21-year-old from Acerra, already known to law enforcement, and reported three women—aged 31, 25, and 23—for illegal possession of narcotics.
The first intervention took place late yesterday afternoon on Via Salicelle, when police officers, during a patrol, stopped a young man who was loitering suspiciously near the public housing projects. When searched, the boy was found in possession of a block of hashish weighing 97 grams.
He, a 21-year-old from Acerra with a criminal record, was arrested on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

During the same operation, another team from the Police Station carried out a check in a house in the neighborhood, where three women were present.
Inside the apartment, the police found a package of hashish and the sum of 10.513 euros in cash, divided into banknotes of various denominations.
The three women, aged 31, 25, and 23, were charged at large with drug possession and alleged logistical support for drug dealing in the area. The source of the money is now being investigated by investigators.
Checks in the Salicelle district
The operation is part of the extraordinary operations ordered by the Naples Police Headquarters and intensified in recent weeks in the northern area of the province, with particular attention to the drug dealing centers of Afragola, Caivano, and Acerra.
The Salicelle neighborhood, in particular, has long been under surveillance due to the presence of groups involved in small- and medium-scale hashish and cocaine trafficking. Law enforcement is patrolling the most vulnerable areas with widespread checks and patrols, including with the assistance of drug-sniffing canine units.
In recent months, numerous raids and searches have led to the seizure of significant quantities of drugs and cash, a sign of a thriving but highly contested market.
The State Police, through a strategy of constant presence on the territory, aims to dismantle the operational bases of a drug dealing system that exploits working-class neighborhoods as distribution centers for the province and metropolitan area of Naples.

It's important for law enforcement to be active in these problematic areas, but there are also many young people who aren't involved in illegal activities and deserve more opportunities for a better future without having to resort to risky situations.
