Avellino - A violent attack took place at dawn in the Aversa district of Avellino, targeting Carmine Laudonia, 62, manager of the Monteforte Irpino office of the provincial company Irpiniambiente, which manages waste collection and disposal throughout the Irpinia region.
According to investigators' reconstruction, the man was attacked around 5 a.m. as he was leaving his home for work. Two individuals, their faces covered by neck warmers, awaited him and brutally attacked him, repeatedly hitting him with an iron bar.
The victim collapsed to the ground, but despite the blows, he managed to call for help. The two attackers, after beating him, fled on foot through the neighborhood streets.
The beating and the suspicion of a warning
Investigators have ruled out robbery: nothing was stolen from Laudonia, neither her purse nor any other personal belongings. This, combined with the manner of the attack, suggests the attack may have been premeditated and related to the manager's work.
According to initial speculation, the beating may have been an act of intimidation stemming from internal tensions in the management of personnel and waste collection services, a context in which, as internal sources report, there have been moments of friction.

The Monteforte Irpino office, managed by Laudonia himself, has approximately 200 employees and has previously been at the center of union disputes and organizational discontent.
Rushed to Moscati Hospital in Avellino, Laudonia underwent stitches for ten head wounds and a CT scan to check for internal trauma. He also suffered bruises to his abdomen, arms, and legs, but his life is not in danger.
The Avellino Police Headquarters' Mobile Squad is investigating the incident, having already interviewed the victim and acquired footage from surveillance cameras in the area. Investigators are checking for any signs of recent threats or conflicts related to the workplace.
At this time, no avenues have been ruled out, but the coincidence between Laudonia's role in the crime and the dynamics of the attack is pushing investigators to favor the professional motive.
The atmosphere remains tense around the Irpiniambiente company, which has long been at the center of union protests and management controversies. This morning's attack, according to investigative sources, may have been a message of intimidation against those holding senior positions in the province's environmental services.
