Naples – A breakthrough has been reached in negotiations for contract workers at ASL Napoli 1 Centro. During a meeting held yesterday, October 8th, between representatives of the SGB union and the new management of CoopService, the company formally committed to awarding higher contractual status to logistics workers who have been performing more highly skilled tasks beyond their level for years. This result puts an end to a long-running dispute and will have a direct economic impact on workers, including the payment of back wages.

The meeting, which focused on organizational restructuring, contractual levels, and workplace safety, marked a turning point after a period of tension and mobilizations promoted by SGB.

The points of agreement

In detail, CoopService has ensured an immediate commitment on two fronts:

Recognition of contractual levels: The job classifications of all personnel who, in fact, operate with higher responsibilities and duties will be reclassified.

Payment of arrears: The company will pay any wage discrepancies accrued over time. The exact amount will be determined through a reconciliation of individual positions.
"This agreement represents one of the key objectives that SGB has always pursued on all its construction sites," a union spokesperson stated. "It is the tangible result of the determination shown by the workers and the protests of recent months, which have successfully brought the now unsustainable critical issues to the attention of the new management."

Context and future prospects

The agreement comes at a delicate time, with the extension of the contract with ASL Napoli 1 Centro, and lays the foundation for a more structured reorganization of logistics and porterage services. The parties have also begun constructive discussions on these aspects, with the goal of ensuring stability and efficiency.

To monitor the implementation of the commitments made, SGB and CoopService have agreed to meet on November 11th for a review of the progress of the processes.

The union, while acknowledging the company's willingness to engage in dialogue, reiterates that this achievement was only possible thanks to the pressure exerted by collective demands, demonstrating once again the importance of united union action for the recognition of workers' rights.

This article is interesting, but I found some points unclear. Workers deserve recognition for their work, but I hope the company keeps the promises made in the agreement and that there are no future problems.
