Naples – It's not a scene from a movie, nor just any argument. What erupted in a home in Arzano had the blind and systematic violence of a premeditated attack, with one detail that forces us to reconsider commonplaces: a 47-year-old woman was placed under house arrest, accused of mistreatment and battery. The victim, bleeding and bitten, was her partner.
The drama unfolds in the afternoon, within the walls of their home that should be a refuge but instead turns into a trap. It all begins with an argument, one of those heated discussions whose voices, like an ominous echo, reverberate throughout the neighborhood. But the verbal altercation, the fuse of which remains unknown at this point, spirals into uncontrollable fury.
It's she, the woman, who makes the leap from words to action. She grabs a kitchen knife and, with cold determination, delivers two stabs to the man's side. Only instinct and a timely move away save his life, limiting the damage to two superficial wounds. But her rage doesn't subside.
The woman bites him after stabbing him
The knife falls to the ground, but the aggressive instinct reaches for another weapon: the teeth.

The 47-year-old then grabbed a cabinet in the living room and threw it at him. Then, as if exhausting every possible blunt object, she threw a glass bottle. It was chaos, a scene of destruction that someone outside immediately reported, alerting the Carabinieri with a 112 call.
The interventions were immediate and simultaneous. Officers from the Arzano station, arriving on the scene within minutes, arrested the woman. The man, treated on the scene by 118 emergency workers, did not require hospitalization, but only treatment for his external injuries. The more serious injuries, perhaps, lie elsewhere.
A controversial case that lifts the veil on a phenomenon often hushed up out of shame or embarrassment: domestic violence against men. A tragedy within a tragedy, where the victim, in addition to her own wounds, bears the burden of a stereotype that must be challenged: the idea that the aggressor in a couple must necessarily be a man. In Arzano, yesterday's events tell a different story, one in which roles are reversed and harsh reality surpasses all fiction.

It's incredible how such incidents can happen within the confines of our homes, where we should feel safe. I don't understand how a woman can resort to such levels of violence. Society must do more to prevent these situations.
