The horse was dragged across the asphalt by a car to which he was tied with a rope, falling heavily to the ground and suffering serious injuries and trauma. Instead of helping him, those responsible abandoned him, tying him to a streetlight pole, and then fleeing with another horse they had with them.
It was only thanks to the timely intervention of the Arzano Local Police , led by Colonel Biagio Chiariello , that the incident did not turn tragic. The officers, alerted by several citizens, found Rocky on the ground, visibly distressed and with widespread injuries. They immediately alerted the veterinarians and launched an investigation to identify those responsible.
Surveillance footage allowed the two men involved to be identified: one of them is a former city councilor already known to law enforcement for a criminal record. When questioned, they were unable to provide a plausible explanation for the horrific act. The officers, along with local health authority staff, later located the other horse, which fortunately was in good condition.
The two men were reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of North Naples for animal abuse and abandonment , while Rocky was seized and placed in the care of veterinarians.
