Macerata - A movie-like scene unfolded on the A14 motorway, where, late yesterday afternoon, an armed commando attempted to attack two armored vans on the stretch of road between the Loreto/Porto Recanati and Civitanova Marche toll booths.

Despite the violence of the action, characterised by the use of semi-automatic weapons, explosives and the scattering of three-pointed nails on the roadway, the robbery failed and the robbers were forced to flee empty-handed.

The attack, which took place around 18:00 PM in the direction of Pescara, saw the criminals block the armored vehicles by setting fire to five cars and shooting out the tires of a tanker truck that veered off course, blocking traffic.

A firefight broke out: one of the security guards on board returned crossfire.

The robbers then attempted to blow up the vans with explosives, but failed to get away with the money.

Manhunt in the night

Law enforcement was immediately mobilized, with the Macerata Police Headquarters activating an anti-robbery plan. The manhunt quickly yielded initial results:

Two of the alleged perpetrators of the attack were intercepted and arrested by the Carabinieri of the Macerata Provincial Command in Porto Potenza Picena, aboard a van.

A third robber was found wounded in the leg, likely shot by a security guard, near a garden center in Potenza Picena. He was hospitalized in Torrette di Ancona.

Two other suspects reportedly managed to escape across the fields.

Fortunately, no security guards or motorists were injured. The highway was closed in both directions for several hours while the Highway Police and forensic team investigated, causing traffic jams that reached eight kilometers.

This article is very interesting but also very worrying because violence seems to be increasing in the streets. I hope that law enforcement can do more to protect citizens and stop these acts of crime.
