La Campania Rain returns. A yellow-level weather alert was issued by the regional Civil Protection Department starting at 1:00 PM today and continuing throughout the day, based on assessments by the Operational Center. The warning applies to the entire Campania region, with the exception of zones 4 (Alta Irpinia and Sannio) and 7 (Tanagro), and will remain in effect until 11:59 PM.
Meteorologists warn of the possibility of sudden and heavy rainfall, albeit short-lived, with thunderstorms that could develop rapidly and bring heavy rain. Hailstorms, lightning, and gusts of wind capable of causing damage and disruption are possible. The impact of the rainfall could cause flooding, landslides, rising water levels, and water flow along roads, in addition to the risk of rockfall in the most exposed areas.
Due to the wind and the wave motion, the Civil protection It also warns of the risk of damage to roofs, scaffolding, and unstable structures. Affected municipalities have been asked to activate their Municipal Operations Centers (COCs) and implement all measures required by local emergency plans to prevent or mitigate the potential effects of severe weather. Authorities also recommend that residents exercise extreme caution when traveling and heed communications from the Regional Operations Room, especially those living or working in areas exposed to flood risk.
