Naples – A swift operation against drug dealing in the heart of Barra led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Neapolitan man, caught with over a kilo of hashish hidden in a car.
The intervention, part of a plan of strengthened controls by the Police Headquarters, marks another blow to the illicit trafficking that plagues the peripheral neighborhoods of the city. The extraordinary services requested by the Naples Police Headquarters to stem the rampant phenomenon of drug trafficking, which continues to claim victims among young people and undermine urban safety, continue unabated.
In this context, yesterday afternoon, State Police officers put an end to suspicious activity on Via Giambattista Vela, in the Barra district, where a routine check turned into a record-breaking seizure.

During a targeted patrol, investigators noticed an irregularly parked car and decided to conduct a thorough search. This is where Rex, the drug-sniffing dog with an unerring nose, came in, signaling the presence of illicit material: hidden in secret compartments of the vehicle, the officers found 11 blocks of hashish, weighing a total of approximately 1,1 kilograms.
The amount was presumably destined for the local drug dealing ring, capable of saturating the black market for days. Subsequent investigations, conducted quickly and accurately, led to the identification of the car's real owner: a 21-year-old Neapolitan man, already known to law enforcement for a specific drug-related offense. The young man, who was not present at the time of the check, was located and arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
This morning, the arrested man appeared before the preliminary investigations judge, who upheld the warrant and ordered his remand in prison, considering the risk of repeating the crime.

The article discusses a police operation that led to the arrest of a young man for drug possession. I think it's important to have checks in these areas, but I wonder if they're enough to stop drug trafficking.
