Benevento – The State Police has put a stop to the sale of alcohol to minors and has placed a lockdown on a business in Benevento's historic center. The measure, issued by the Provincial Police Commissioner of Sannio, is the direct result of investigations that allegedly demonstrated the repeated serving of alcoholic beverages to customers under 18.
The business, whose name has not been disclosed, will be closed for five days. The suspension of operations is an immediate preventive measure, required by the Consolidated Law on Public Safety (TULPS), aimed at stopping unlawful behavior that threatens public order and safety, particularly when it involves young people.
A crime with double responsibility
The episode shines a spotlight on a crime that is often overlooked but has serious consequences.

Penalties can include hefty fines, suspension or revocation of the business license, and, in serious cases, criminal consequences for the crime of "serving alcoholic beverages to minors under the age of sixteen" (Article 689 of the Criminal Code), with an aggravating circumstance if the minor is under 14 years of age.
The intervention by law enforcement emphasizes that, beyond sanctions, education and protection are a priority: alcohol can have harmful effects on the developing bodies of adolescents and encourage risky behavior, making the vigilance of retailers and institutions essential.
