Benevento - An appeal verdict overturns the outcome of a theft trial. Vincenzo D'Onofrio, a 57-year-old notorious criminal from Arpaia, nicknamed "o' Mangiavatt," and Claudio Borzacchiello, a 60-year-old from Arienzo, were acquitted of the aggravated theft charge for which they were initially convicted.
The Court of Appeal of Naples has fully upheld the defense arguments of lawyer Vittorio Fucci, overturning the first-instance sentence issued by the Court of Benevento that had sentenced both men, who already had numerous criminal records, to one year in prison.
The legal case stems from an alleged theft committed inside a well-known hotel in the Caudina Valley.

D'Onofrio, in particular, is well known in the legal news. Over the years, his name has surfaced repeatedly in organized crime investigations, with accusations of membership in the Pagnozzi clan of the Caudina Valley and ties to the Massaro clan of the Suessola Valley.
This very background was the focus of Fucci's defense, whose arguments convinced the Court of Appeal judges to rule that there was no evidence against the two defendants for the specific incident of the hotel robbery. This dramatic turn of events frees the two defendants, writing a new chapter in a case that seemed already sealed.
