BENEVENTO – A large quantity of drugs, cash, and drug-packaging equipment were discovered by Carabinieri officers from the Benevento Operations and Mobile Unit during a house search, which led to the arrest of a 32-year-old man. The operation was the result of an investigative effort aimed at combating drug dealing in the capital of Sannio.
During the raid, officers found thirteen blocks of hashish, wrapped in heat-sealed cellophane, weighing a total of 1,174 kilograms, as well as 2,3 grams of cocaine stored in a small glass container. Also found in the house, located in the city center, were a kitchen knife with traces of hashish, two precision scales, a money counting machine, and €26.785 in cash, hidden among clothing and inside a safe.
The money, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing, was seized along with the drugs and the material used to package them. The man, already known to law enforcement, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics and taken to prison for judicial review. The operation confirms the Carabinieri 's constant focus on combating drug trafficking in the Benevento area, with increasingly targeted checks in urban areas and locations considered sensitive for drug trafficking.
