Camorra, politics, and leaks. This is the new plot shaking up the Santa Maria a Vico, in the Caserta area, where a Carabiniere serving in the local station has ended up under investigation for revealing official secrets. At the centre of the investigation by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Napoli There is an alleged political-mafia electoral exchange system that has already led to the arrest of Mayor Andrea Pirozzi and his deputy, Veronica Biondo.
The soldier, identified as Adolfo Molaro, reportedly alerted the mayor of the existence of investigations related to the alleged vote-buying scheme involving Biondo herself—currently a Forza Italia candidate in the Campania regional elections—and Domenico Nuzzo, believed to be close to the Massaro clan and currently in prison on charges of participating in an illicit deal with organized crime figures.

According to the DDA's reconstruction and reported in the order signed by the investigating judge, the Carabiniere also informed Nuzzo of the existence of complaints highlighting contacts and electoral pacts between Pirozzi's political group and figures linked to the clan. The investigation, which is profoundly shaking Caserta's politics, casts a dark shadow over the relationship between institutions and organized crime in an area where voting, once again, appears to have been a bargaining chip.
