S. Maria Capua Vetere – A successful anti-drug and mobile device trafficking operation was conducted inside the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. In the early hours of this morning, the Penitentiary Police conducted an extraordinary search that resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of hashish and 10 smartphones.
Vincenzo Palmieri, regional secretary of the OSAPP Penitentiary Police Union, made the announcement.
The operation, which began at dawn, targeted a particularly sensitive area of the facility: the detention ward housing inmates belonging to the High Security circuit.
To ensure the success of the raid, the Penitentiary Police personnel at the Sammarinese headquarters were supported by significant specialized reinforcements.

The operation was not without its challenges. According to Palmieri, there were "moments of tension" when some inmates resisted, refusing to submit to the search. The potentially explosive situation was handled with great professionalism by the officers, who managed to contain the disturbances, ensure the safety of all staff, and complete the search.
The operation concluded with the seizure of the illegal material. The inmates found in possession of the smartphones and drugs were immediately reported to the competent judicial authorities, who will begin their investigation.
OSAPP, through its regional secretary, expressed "heartfelt applause to all those who attended," emphasizing the merit of the Sammarinese headquarters staff and all the specialized teams who contributed to the success of the operation, confirming its ongoing commitment to combating illicit activities within penitentiary institutions.
