Benevento – The so-called "Sangiuliano-Boccia case" is widening, an investigation that also involves journalist Carlo Tarallo, a longtime contributor to Anteprima24.

Yesterday, the Carabinieri of the Rome Judicial Police, acting on orders from the investigating judge of the Rome Tribunal, carried out a search of the Benevento headquarters of the online newspaper, issuing a precautionary seizure order related to a double complaint filed by former minister Gennaro Sangiuliano and his wife, journalist Federica Corsini.

According to the editorial staff, the military—who reportedly acted "with courtesy and professionalism"—requested the removal from social media of part of the interview conducted last August with Maria Rosaria Boccia, and acquired audio and video material related to the published story. At the same time, two notices of investigation were served on Tarallo and Boccia herself.

The journalist is charged with the alleged illegal acquisition and distribution of an audio recording containing a private conversation between Sangiuliano and his wife.

But the Anteprima24 editorial staff firmly denies any accusations: "The audio in question does not exist," reads the official statement released by the newspaper. "It is a Report report broadcast last year. Dr. Tarallo has never had in his possession any original or unpublished fragment."

In the statement, the newspaper interpreted the incident as an act of intimidation against the right to report: "We consider this complaint to be yet another form of pressure against the free press," they wrote, "by two journalists, moreover. We have full confidence in the judiciary and law enforcement, but we cannot fail to emphasize how the former minister continues to blame others, particularly journalists, for the consequences of his own conduct."

The case, which intertwines judicial, media, and political issues, remains open. Investigators are now verifying the traceability of the materials circulated online and the connection between the Boccia interview and the alleged incriminating audio.

Meanwhile, Anteprima24 announces that it will continue to publish updates "in full respect of investigations and freedom of information."

Reading the article, I wondered how a journalist could be accused of something that doesn't exist. Freedom of the press is fundamental, but if there is evidence, it should be presented. The issue seems complex.
