Castel Volturno – What seemed like a routine patrol turned into a criminal police operation. Carabinieri officers from the Mondragone Territorial Unit discovered a stolen Smart Fortwo and reported a 33-year-old woman, a resident of Castel Volturno, for receiving stolen goods and using a forged document.
While patrolling the streets of the Domitia area, officers noticed a Smart car without license plates parked on Via Lombardia. The car, apparently abandoned, immediately attracted their attention. After checking the chassis number, they discovered that it was stolen in Casoria (Naples) on April 25, 2024, a theft duly reported by the owner.
Once the investigations had begun, the Carabinieri traced the 33-year-old woman, already known to the police, who had access to the vehicle.

These explanations, however, did not convince investigators. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a registration document registered to the same vehicle, which was clearly falsified. The document was immediately seized, while the car was handed over to an authorized company for judicial custody.
The woman was subsequently reported at large to the competent judicial authorities. Investigations are continuing to reconstruct the vehicle's provenance and verify any possible complicity or connection to stolen car trafficking between Campania and other European regions or countries.
