Naples – A blow to drug trafficking in the heart of the Chiaiano neighborhood. State Police have cleared out an apartment, transformed into a veritable drug warehouse, arresting a 31-year-old Ukrainian man already known to law enforcement for similar crimes.
The operation, which began yesterday afternoon, is part of the extraordinary territorial control operations implemented by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat drug dealing and the illegal possession of weapons and narcotics.
The raid was carried out by officers from the Arenella and Vomero police stations, who, following the investigation, searched the man's home.

The haul is considerable. On site, officers seized over a kilo of marijuana, approximately 90 grams of hashish, and, confirming the commercial purpose of the find, a precision scale and all the materials needed to package the doses.
The evidence leaves no doubt: the house wasn't just a warehouse, but an active drug dealing cell. For the 31-year-old, therefore, there was no escape. Taken to the police station, he was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.
The man, whose personal details suggest he has Ukrainian citizenship, will now have to answer to justice, adding a new chapter, this time as an arrested person, to his specific previous criminal record.

The police operation appears to have been very effective, but I wonder if it's enough to stop drug trafficking. There are many other drug dealers still operating in the city, and it's unclear how the problem can truly be solved.
