NAPLES – The judicial turning point is approaching for the tragic death of Chiara Jaconis, the thirty-year-old tourist from Padua who was hit on the head by a statuette that fell from a balcony in the Spanish Quarter. The Public Prosecutor's Office Napoli has closed its investigation and is preparing to request that the parents of the thirteen-year-old held responsible for the act be sent to trial.
The two, both respected professionals, are charged with manslaughter and failure to supervise. According to the prosecution, they should have monitored their son's behavior, as he had previously demonstrated a habit of throwing objects out of windows.

The investigation, which lasted over a year, reconstructed the dynamics of the accident and identified the exact point from which the objects were thrown. «It's a story that destroyed two respectable families – commented the lawyer Carlo Bianco, legal representative of the parents –. My clients are deeply saddened and have always shown the utmost attention and care towards their son, who has suffered from health problems since birth."
The two defendants continue to deny their involvement, claiming they are not the owners of the statuettes that caused the tragedy. Meanwhile, Chiara's memory lives on in the grief of her family and the outrage of a city that has not forgotten that absurd day, when an unwitting act shattered a life.
