Torre del Greco - A chase that began with blurry footage from a surveillance camera and ended with handcuffs in a home in Avellino: it's the story of a "tailor-made" theft that left the owners of two premium motorcycles, stolen in broad daylight on August 7th, in suspense.
Today, the Torre del Greco State Police closed the loop, executing a precautionary warrant issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Torre Annunziata Court at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The unsavory suspects: two residents of the Ponticelli neighborhood of Naples, accused of stealing a Triumph and a Honda SH with the coolness of those who know the Vesuvian roads are fertile ground for easy robberies.
This morning was a two-part raid. The first arrestee, a 30-year-old with a history of petty street crimes, was caught in his apartment in Ponticelli: officers knocked at dawn, and he answered without a fuss.

The events date back to that sultry morning of early August 15th, when the sun beat down mercilessly on the coastal roads. First target: an elegant Triumph parked on Via Monsignor Felice Romano, a stone's throw from a historic pastry shop in Torre del Greco, a daily destination for workers and tourists looking for a quick croissant.
The thieves, wearing gloves and full-face helmets, forced the ignition in less than a minute—an act of "violence against property exposed to public trust," as stated in Article 625 of the Penal Code, which aggravates the crime by tripling the penalty.
A few kilometers further on, in Torre Annunziata, it's the Honda SH's turn: left unattended near a beach on Viale Marconi, where the sea smells of salt and summer idleness, the vehicle vanished in the same way, leaving the owner with nothing and a heated complaint.
While the motorcycle owners—one a local craftsman; the other a seasonal lifeguard—breathe a sigh of relief, the investigation continues. The prosecutor's office is digging to determine whether the duo was linked to a larger network of fences, with wiretaps and tailings already underway.
