CUSANO MUTRI (Benevento) – The aroma of porcini mushrooms has been ruined by a scam that has rocked the traditional festival of the Sannio village. A young couple, both residents of the province of Salerno, was reported by the Carabinieri for having attempted to pay with a counterfeit 50 euro note at one of the food stands.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening, when the stand employees, suspicious of the size of the banknote, alerted the military personnel present on site for routine checks.

The two young men were reported at large for spending counterfeit currency, while investigations continue to trace the origin of the counterfeit money and determine whether there are other accomplices.

It's incredible how people can do such stupid things, especially at a festival where people should just enjoy good food. We hope that controls will be increased to prevent similar incidents in the future.
